Miss All South Texas Sweetheart

Irene Garza lived from 1934-1960, 26 years. She was described as "humble" and "beautiful" by her cousins. Irene's beauty was no joke, seeing as she was named Miss All South Texas Sweetheart in 1958. Close family members described her as a "self-confident female" with a "good heart".

Some Kind of Beautiful

The purpose of this site is to document my findings on a deceased ancestor or stranger for a school project. While I am not interested in documenting a deceased ancestor, I have decided to, instead, locate the headstone of an individual I am interested in.

One of the first pieces of information I came across with while researching Irene Garza, the deceased individual that caught my attention, was the location of her headstone, Valley Memorial Gardens.

Although the graveyard seemed desolate and unfrequented, it gave off a peaceful and calming vibe. Despite its loneliness, it seemed to radiate some kind of beautiful, reflective feeling.

Irene Garza's gravesite especially seemed to radiate this unforgettable feeling, with its lively-colored flowers standing firm upon her tombstone and the wild grass growing around it.

Throughout the short trip I made to Garza's gravesite I've come to realize that although graveyards are always depicted as one of the most sad and ultimately depressing places to lie upon earth, it can also be one of the most tranquil and pleasing places to exist upon earth.
